Singer Sushma Shrestha (Poornima)

Sushma Shrestha, also widely known by her stage name Poornima, has been an influential figure in the Indian music industry. Born on September 6, 1960, in Mumbai, she began her career as a child artist, lending her voice to the song “Hai Na Bolo Bolo” in the 1971 film “Andaz“. Over the years, she established herself as a prominent playback singer during the 1990s, recording songs in a variety of Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Nepali. Notably, she performed “Kya Hua Tera Wada” from the film “Hum Kisise Kum Nahin” (1977), which remains a beloved classic, and “Tera Mujhse Hai Pehle Ka Nata Koi” from “Aa Gale Lag Jaa” (1973), both of which earned her nominations for the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. Her song “Tu Tu Tu Tu Tu Tara” from the movie “Bol Radha Bol” (1992) catapulted her to fame during the 90s. Beyond these, she contributed to the soundtracks of major films such as “Coolie No. 1” and “Hero No. 1“, further solidifying her status as a leading playback singer​.
