Suresh Wadkar, born on 7 August 1955 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, is a distinguished Indian playback singer renowned for his contributions to Hindi and Marathi cinema. Wadkar’s musical journey began under the guidance of his guru Jialal Vasant at a tender age, leading him to a prolific singing career that kicked off with his Bollywood debut in 1977 with the song “Bristi Pare Tapur Tupur” for the film “Paheli”. Over the decades, Wadkar has lent his melodious voice to numerous hit songs across various languages, including iconic tracks such as “Lagi Aaj Sawan Ki” from “Chandni“, “Seene Mein Jalan” from “Gaman“, and “Hey Bhaskara Kshitija Vari Ya” from “Mee Sindhutai Sapkal”, for which he received the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 2010​. Beyond his singing, Wadkar has made significant contributions as a music educator, founding the Suresh Wadkar Ajivasan Music Academy to nurture future talents. His recognition for his contributions to music includes prestigious awards like the Padma Shri in 2020 and the Lata Mangeshkar Puraskar in 2004.
