Singer Unni Menon
Unni Menon, born on December 2, 1955, in Kerala, India, is celebrated for his melodious contributions across various Indian languages, with over 4000 songs to his credit. His significant breakthrough came with the song “Pudhu Vellai Mazhai” from the Tamil film “Roja” (1992), composed by A. R. Rahman, marking the beginning of a fruitful collaboration with the composer. Menon’s voice has graced many hits, notably “Poraale Ponnuthayi” from “Karuththamma” (1994), and “Mana Madurai” from “Minsara Kanavu” (1997), the latter earning him the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer. His devotion to music extends beyond playback singing, venturing into acting and music direction with the Malayalam film “Sthithi” (2003).
