Loy Mendonsa is a famous music director from India. He is part of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio, which also includes Shankar Mahadevan and Ehsaan Noorani. Before he became a music director, Loy played the piano and keyboards for other famous Indian music composers like A. R. Rahman and Nadeem-Shravan. His music career started when he composed the theme music for “The World This Week” on Doordarshan. Some of the most famous songs directed by Loy Mendonsa, along with Shankar and Ehsaan, include “Kajra Re” from the movie “Bunty Aur Babli,” “Mitwa” from “Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna,” and the title track of “Dil Chahta Hai.” The trio has been recognized for their contributions to music with numerous awards. For instance, they won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction for “Kal Ho Naa Ho” in 2004 and the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for the same movie. They also received the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for “Bunty Aur Babli” in 2006​.
