Salil Chowdhury was a famous music director born on November 19, 1925. He made music for movies in many languages, including Hindi, Bengali, and Malayalam. Salil started making music for Bengali movies in 1949 with a movie called “Paribortan” and continued until 1994. He became very famous and helped other music directors, like R. D. Burman and Hridaynath Mangeshkar. Some of his famous songs include “Ittefaq” and “Anand” from Hindi movies, and “Chemmeen” from a Malayalam movie. He won big awards for his music, like the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director for the movie “Madhumati” and the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Music Director for “Samshaya Phala”.
