Vijay Prakash, born on 21st February 1976 in Mysuru, Karnataka, is a celebrated Indian playback singer and music director, known for his contributions across multiple Indian languages including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Marathi. His notable works include the high-pitched “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire, which won the 2008 Academy Award for Best Original Song and a Grammy Award. He’s also admired for his songs “Gatiya Ilidu” from “Ulidavaru Kandante” and “Belageddu” from “Kirik Party”, earning him the Filmfare Award for Best Male Playback Artist – Kannada twice. Vijay’s journey in music, enriched by his training in Carnatic music, began in earnest after he moved to Mumbai in 1996, where he became a student of Suresh Wadkar and later a sought-after voice in the Indian film industry.
