Rafiq Ghaznavi was a musician and actor born in 1907 in Rawalpindi, Punjab, British India. He made significant contributions to Indian cinema before partition and later to Pakistani cinema. Notably, he worked on films like “Heer Ranjha” (1932) by Abdul Rashid Kardar, “Taqdeer” (1943) by Mehboob Khan, and “Ek Din Ka Sultan” (1945). After the partition in 1947, he settled in Lahore and composed music for films such as “Parwaaz” (1954) and “Mandi” (1956). His notable tracks include “Zaalim Jawani Haye Zaalim” from Taqdeer (1943), “Dost Hua Hai Dushman Jani” from Society (1942), and “Tarsi Hui Hai” from Najma (1943).
